Seacliff SLSC Nipper Program

Nippers is our junior activities program specially designed for children aged five to thirteen. It is a great way to help kids learn essential water safety skills, grow their confidence and make lifelong friendships.

Not only is Nippers a fun way for children to enjoy the beach in a safe environment, but it also offers children an educational pathway through the Junior Development Program. This program sets them on the path to becoming a fully rounded participant in lifesaving, sport and community.

Our Club values are based around Community, Courage, Lifestyle and Respect and we look to instil all of these as part of our Nipper Program where we provide a fun, safe and welcoming environment for both Nippers and parents or caregivers.

The aims of the Nipper Program are to:

• Develop surf awareness;
• Increase confidence and skills in beach related activities;
• Offer training to those wanting to pursue competition or awards;
• Instil and re-enforce sun smart philosophies;
• Encourage enjoyable and healthy participation;
• Progress members towards surf awards for relevant age groups;
• Promote a positive non-threatening environment; and
• Meet new friends.

Registration

Being a Seacliff Surf Life Saving Club member can be incredibly rewarding. We are a family-based club with a proud history of both service and competition.

All Nippers need to be registered as members and attached to an adult in our system for the purpose of communications and to act as a primary contact for the child. Depending on what level of involvement you are looking for in the club, you can also sign up as an active member to enjoy the facilities on offer, challenge yourself and pursue your Bronze Medallion to become a patrolling member, or simply enjoy some discounts at the bistro as a social member.

For children who are new to Nippers we suggest first joining our Come ’n Try sessions. You can complete a waiver form and pay the $25 deposit via the Come ‘n Try link above. You will receive a voucher to the value of $25 to be used within the club when you present on the beach for your first session.

To join the Nipper program your child needs to be 5 years of age at any time during the season. The Nipper program accommodates age groups from under 6 to under 13. A youth program runs for under 14 and above.

Age groups are determined by age on the 30th September each year. Each age group wears a coloured cap which they keep each year until they finish the Nipper program after under 13. Age group birth dates and cap colours can be found below:
